Pride is Keeping Roman Catholics Stuck in Their Religion

It's indeed very heartbreaking that many Roman Catholics are too stuck in their pride. A lot of problems happen today because of pride. Ever wondered why you have a hard time forgiving or asking for forgiveness? It's because of the sin of pride. A lot of people today have their pride.

Yes, pride leads to destruction and nowhere but it (Proverbs 16:18). A lot of Roman Catholics today are stuck in their pride. What pride are they stuck in? Well, you have to consider that man is not a humble creature. Roman Catholicism's system of faith plus works is still salvation by works. Salvation by works gives a lot of room to brag. "I"m good enough for Heaven!" However, Ephesians 2:8-9 says that salvation is by grace through faith and not of ourselves so no one could boast.

While growing up Roman Catholic - it's very easy to hear people brag about going to Heaven. I was a mean kid and I was told that I would go to Hell if I did more good than bad. It's very easy to say something like, "Well, I go to church every Sunday. I go to confession. I do all the good I can. I haven't committed any mortal sin." Unfortunately, for the Bible, all sin is considered mortal. James 2:10-11 says that you just need to break one rule to break the whole Law. Romans 3:19 says that all must be silent before God. The Law declared all men sinners. How can there be boasting when the Law of God declares all men as sinners? It's an inconvenient truth but that's the truth. I looked upon the penitent thief and still wonder is that all it takes to get saved?

So the "solution" (at least for Rome) is salvation through the Roman Catholic priesthood or priests save souls. The idea is not anywhere in the Scriptures. Salvation has always been by the mercy of God which leads to a changed life. Infant baptism is just the start of false assurance. The truth is nobody is ever spiritually born again in infant baptism. Only by receiving Jesus Christ as one's Lord and Savior can one truly be born again. There's the need to attend to every other sacrament. However, nobody can keep all seven. If you are single but not a priest then you miss the sacraments of marriage and holy orders. If you become a priest then you can't partake in marriage and vice-versa. You can imagine the messy salvation through sacraments. The worse part is that every sacrament requires a priest. As you see, the doctrine of "priests save souls" makes very easy money. But salvation is not for sale.

The problem of Roman Catholics with their pride also relies on them bragging about how many they are. Do numbers ever make right or wrong? No, a minority or majority never determines the numbers. Sometimes, we ignore the minority when they are wrong. Sometimes, we ignore the majority when they are wrong. A majority vote or minority vote has never changed any truth to a lie or any lie to truth. I agree that there are over five billion Roman Catholics. If you're bragging that numbers make right then Jesus warned in Matthew 7:13-14 that strait is the gate and wide is the way that leads to damnation and many enter therein. Only a few ever find the spiritual truth. Many may awaken to temporal truths but only a few ever awaken to spiritual truths.

What's really needed is humility. It's humility that ultimately gets you to realize you can't save yourself. Salvation is really found in Jesus. You need to see yourself that you don't contribute to anything for salvation. Jesus paid it all on the cross. That's what Roman Catholics need to hear. Sadly, so many Roman Catholics are still too stuck in their pride to ever see the truth.
